During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Nanritam [including teachers from Filix School of Education] team embarked on a comprehensive community outreach program, distributing essential relief supplies such as food, medicines, and oxygen concentrators to marginalized communities in neighboring villages. Their interactions with local schools and community teachers revealed the profound challenges posed by the digital divide and the pressing need to bridge the educational gap among children. In November 2021, they initiated the “Education for All” (EFA) project, underpinned by the expertise of the Filix School of Education. EFA’s objectives encompass foundational literacy and numeracy education for children aged 3 to 8 and experiential math and science pedagogy for middle and high school students. Since its inception, Nanritam Education For All has successfully trained 2000 teachers and positively impacted the lives of 50,000 children across five Indian states of West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Kashmir and Ladakh. The program leverages Filix School’s strengths in science and STEM education to provide high-quality learning experiences in regions with limited resources. Additionally, Nanritam Education For All has developed Filibot, a chatbot poised to revolutionize teacher learning, pedagogy, and assessment, soon to be shared with educators worldwide, thereby contributing to the enhancement of education quality and access for underserved communities globally. It is our pride and joy that students and teachers of Filix School of Education play an active role in this community outreach. While the teachers act as trainers to the community teachers, the students visit the community schools at regular intervals helping with the teaching and actively participating in scholastic and non scholastic activities with the children.
