Neuroscientists believe there are a number of reasons why doing enough physical activity to improve cardiorespiratory fitness in childhood is directly related to the structure and function of the developing brain, especially regions such as the hippocampus, which is involved in memory, and the prefrontal cortex, which does not complete its formation until your early 20s. No wonder the “Day” the children wait for most in Filix is the Sports Day. The worst conceivable punishment for a child who sometimes fails to submit homework or class assignments is to be told that he/she won’t be allowed to participate in any of the events on the Sports Day. That acts like a medicine. And it really works. Sports inspire the children in academics both directly and indirectly. Each class had about 5-6events. Like flat race, relay race, sack race, Maths race, throw the ball in the basket, Cinderella race etc. Lifting the trophies give them the sense of best happiness in the world. They feel as best athletes. Mr. AshoK Mohan Chakrabarty IAS (Retd) former Chief Secretary of West Bengal and the Chairperson of the school is always with the children on this day.
